2021 Message From Sun Valley

November 23, 2020 (Message from Stevie Leeann GawrylukGroup Sales Coordinator)

Hello from Sun Valley!

With winter just around the corner, we wanted to take a moment to touch base on some of the upcoming changes in practices and procedures. Some of this information may not apply to your group event, but much of it will.

Know Before You Go: Sun Valley Resort recently released this video which reviews practices and protocols for the winter season. It would be great if group members were able to watch this video prior to their arrival.

Shoe Storage: As you will find in the video, leaving shoes and boot bags in the day lodges will not be permitted this year. Guests will need to pay for shoe/boot bag storage at our new shoe and bag storage service outside of the lodges. Daily boot bag/shoe storage will be $7.00 or guests may purchase a 5 day punch card for $30.00 It is recommended that all guests show up to the mountain with their boots on and ready to ski; and not changing their clothes or shoes at the base areas.

Overnight Boot Storage: This will not be offered this year. We believe this was a high traffic jam area of operations and we want to ensure to keep people spaced out this winter.

Overnight Ski Storage: This service will still be offered to Pete Lane renters, as well as those staying at our properties.

Welcome Receptions: Welcome Receptions will not be offered this year as we need to keep people spaced out. We will have informational packets for each group member, which they will receive when they get their room keys at check-in.

Lift Ticket Day Upgrade: Please note that ticket upgrades will not be available at the ticket window this winter. Group members need to order the number of days they intend to ski on the group lift ticket order. The exchange program will still take place for days not used on lift tickets, but adding days to ski will not be available.

Epic Passes: Sun Valley Resort does not require Epic Pass holders to make reservations to enjoy the resort. With that said, we in Group Sales are asking our groups to please list the Epic Pass holders on the final lift ticket order form.

NASTAR: The future of group NASTAR races is uncertain at this time. As group arrival dates arrive, we will be able to let you know the status of races.

Mountain Rides: The local bus system as of today, November 23, 2020, does require masks to be worn and is limiting the number of passengers to 15. These rules may change as the winter goes on, but please have group members prepared to work with the bus modifications. If a bus is full, and people are still at the bus stop, guests will need to wait for the next bus to arrive.

We understand these times are trying and concerning, but the teams at Sun Valley Resort have worked diligently to identify high volume areas, and create solutions to keeping people spaced apart and reducing the spread of COVID-19. There will be a lot of changes for those who have visited before, so we ask our repeat guests to please arrive with an open mind, kindness in their heart; and a focus on enjoy the winter wonderland here at Sun Valley Resort. There may be unforeseen changes to the above protocols and we will work to keep you and your group updated on such changes. As you may know, Kevin is back with the office but will be spending a majority of his week with Mountain Operations. As correspondences continue, please include both Kevin and myself in these emails.

We thank you in advance for your understanding and patience during this time.

Take care, stay well, and be safe!

Kind Regards,

Stevie Leeann Gawryluk
